Howell Balloonfest FAIL

Jason's company has their family picnic during the Howell Balloonfest. Both years have been a big bust for us in the balloon launching department. Last year we really didn't know what we were in for & went over to the festivities way too early. So this year we thought we would go around 6ish & walk around since it says they launch between 6-8. By 7:15 a single balloon hadn't even been inflated yet & someone was getting antsy in their wagon. So we called it quits. Maybe next year we might see something. So here are the few pictures we captured.

Impromptu Date with Olivia

On our way home Friday night Melissa called & said that they were going to be in Oxford. She wanted to see if we wanted to get together. So we went over to Kyle's moms' house to hang out with Olivia. He made it up until 10:15 and was the best little boy in the whole world.

He made a new best friend in Kyle's sister Jen.

These are the best moments of my life.

I believe a while back I asked when did he become such a little man & the answer was when he got his first haircut. I am going to have to change that moment to the last week. He has really begun to understand what we are talking to him about & he has quite a few sentences. Each day a new one comes out & just blows me away. I would like to take this moment to chronicle these. As I am hoping that this blog is serving as a great way for you to catch up on all things Hayden, I am starting to see it as my "baby book" shall we say. Here are just a few cute Hayden sayings.

At dinner the other night he wanted a toy that was on the table. He looked around the vase on the lazy Susan, pointed a finger & said "Jay". I guess I must use his name an awful lot.

He is beginning to master the art of using his fork & actually get the food to his mouth. He was really excited, every time he succeeded with a bite he would say yeah. Then he looked right at me and said "This is fun". I said "Did you just say that" He says "yeah".

As you saw from previous pictures he likes to help me with laundry. Today in the car on the way home I asked if he wanted to do laundry when we got home. He says "I wanna help" "Dryer"

Tonight when I told him it was night night time he looked at me & said "I want to read." How can you deny him 5 more minutes after that.

He can name everyone at school, sing a little Happy Birthday, knows when he has two things. Sometimes while going down the steps he counts 1, 2, 5. We'll work on it. He also has been known to sing along with the Empire commercial.

I popped on Toy Story the other night, he is now fascinated with Buzz Lightyear & recognizes him every where we see him.

He will kiss me goodbye in the morning & when he really wants me to leave so he can get to playing he will kiss me about 5 times as he shoves me out the door.

These are the best moments of my life.

Such a Big Help

Every time I scoop up the dirty clothes to take downstairs Hayden gets really excited & starts yelling dryer, dryer. He has now taken to helping.
Mommy to Hayden as I am walking down the stairs "Do you want to help with the laundry"
Hayden "Yea" followed by the fastest pitter patter of his little feet.

Teeth Brushing

Now that we have almost a full mouth of teeth it's time to get into the nightly routine of brushing our teeth. So far it goes well until he has to stop running the brush under the water.

Christmas Socks, Fair Fun & Ice Cream

Yes, you read that right, Christmas Socks....my extremely independent child wanted to wear his Santa Socks with his two sizes two small Buzz Lightyear sandals. I missed the photo op with the onesie unbuttoned over the shirt & shorts that he chose on Sunday.

He really wanted to ride the roller coaster at the St. Mary's fair. He REALLY didn't like it when it was over. No other rides after that.

Grammy always had a rule in her house. It had to be 70 to go to Eva's. We don't wait till it's 70 but we did go this weekend. What more do I say? He stole my ice cream cone. Guess he will be getting his own next time.
